While the UK can be more or less credited as the birthplace of heavy metal, and also considering that the entire NWOBHM movement being a massive influence on thrash metal, there has been very few notable thrash acts out of England. However, it seems like hardcore punk-turned metal/crossover acts filled the gap in the 80s with bands like Discharge, Broken Bones, English Dogs, and Onslaught (among others) who not just leaned towards thrash and metal, but fully embraced it. Onslaught’s debut album Power From Hell is visceral thrash metal offering with decidedly punk feel in regard to the vocals and general DIY vibes, but the attitude is thrash. Before I talk myself into a corner here, let’s just say this record fucking kills.
2017 German reissue from High Roller Records and it’s fucking great.
