There are two Maiden albums that are my absolute favorites and this is one of them. This album is their first with guitarist Adrian Smith who replaces Dennis Stratton. Smith is an exemplary player and strong songwriter who’s contributions are on of the foundations on the band’s forthcoming mega-success. Another major factor that comes into play with this album is the beginning of a long relationship with master engineer/producer, Martin Birch. Right away, the sound of Killers noticeably fuller. Birch would further hone their sound into the stadium packing metal juggernaut they would become. But it’s 1981 and the band are still hungry and hitting hard. It sound so damn good! What a time to be alive, hah!
Original US pressing on Harvest . Bought used somewhere in the 80s and lucked out. LP is pristine.
