This little live platter is a perfect closing chapter of the Di’Anno era of the band. Highly energetic, tight, and a suitably raw production sound (in a good way). It represents a good deal of what Maiden were all about leading up to this point. One chapter ends and another begins for Maiden, and heavy metal in general. Am I overstating the significance of Maiden’s impact during this time? Maybe. I saddens me that Paul Di’Anno did not find more success in his post-Maiden years. He was just such a unique and forceful presence at the time.
Original’81 US pressing on Harvest. I’ve always had an ‘84 repress on Capital and it’s been fine, but I stumbled across this for a nice price a few years ago and impulsively bought it not realizing it was an original pressing. Now I have two copies, haha.
