Kiss - Unmasked (1980)

I suppose this is a continuation of what Kiss had started with Dynasty. It has some rockers, but it’s also pretty sappy in a lot of ways. The band had already been struggling internally before but this is about where it all begins to fall apart. Not even really sure how much Frehley or Criss played on this album. It doesn’t suck though… No way I would have jammed this back in my younger years, but I’m a lot more forgiving these days.

Original 1980 US pressing on Casablanca. Found this not so well taken care of copy at an antique mall on the cheap. As you can see, the cover has seen better days, but the album remains a good player. I recently ran it through the ultrasonic cleaner and it’s easily a VG+, which far exceeds my expectations. I’m all about rescuing (and rehabilitating) a record that had a hard time of it.
