Kong - Mute Poet Vocalizer (1990)

I stumbled across this album in the early 1990s at a record show used/cheap and had no idea who this band were or what they sounded like. It looked kind of weird and I thought maybe they were industrial or something and picked it up. Weird how I can remember buying this and then playing it for the first time. Kong is an odd unit… maybe my first taste of instrumental post-metal as that was not a thing so much on the early 1990s. The production is sort of cold, but doesn’t take away from the music. The band would go onto further develop their sound into a progressive post-metal force, though always a bit in their own world, which I like about them. Not sure this is the best place to start with Kong, bit it is their debut and a solid LP nonetheless.

Original UK pressing on the Dreamtime label. Surprised to see this was never again reissued on vinyl after this initial run.
