Was just reading up a little on the Pink Fairies as I only knew a little about Paul Rudolf, and of course Twink and Larry Wallis (who isn’t yet in the band in ‘72). Somehow I feel less knowledgeable after reading a bit of the band’s Wikipedia page, haha.
This second album by the Pink Fairies jams pretty good, despite not really treading into any kind of new directions. The record has a bit of a lo-fi vibe about it, and while I wasn’t sure how I felt about it on first listen, I’ve come around to it over time. Absolutely worth your time if you’re into proto-punk, Hawkwind, Motörhead, Twink, etc.
This is a 2011 UK reissue released by Scorpio Music/Universal Special Markets. Vinyl is clean and the cover is a decently executed gatefold with original artwork. I’ve read some criticism about the pressing being lifeless and there could be some merit in that. As mentioned, the original records are already pretty raw and that’s ok, but a little more effort on the vinyl mastering for this could made a difference. Got this brand new at an NYC shop for like $12 so I ain’t complaining.
