Samson’s second album is a great level up in ways of production, songwriting, and with Bruce Dickinson making his recording debut with the band. This is solid NWOBHM! Dickinson sounds fantastic.
Another Iron Maiden connection here is the side 2 opener Thunderburst… which is the exact same short track as Iron Maiden’s “The Idea Of March” from Killers a year later. Of course, Steve Harris is credited as co-writer on this, but it’s curious that the difference it the performance, really. Iron Maiden’s version being tighter and punchier.
2017 reissue ok UK label Back On Black. Nice gatefold cover, red vinyl, but otherwise nothing too fancy.
