As you can guess from the album title, this is a compilation album of Samson recordings from Bruce Dickinson’s time in the band, most notably the two studio albums that he sang in, Head On (1980) and Shock Tactics (1981). While its primary purpose was to cash in on Dickinson’s fame with Iron Maiden, it’s a really good selection of tunes and actually makes for a fitting intro to Samson’s early period. Interestingly, all tracks were remixed by Paul Samson for this special release and the result is mainly a pretty boomy 80s reverb drum sound that doest’t sound as good as the original versions one the two aforementioned albums. This compilation also features an outtake from the Shock Tactics sessions called Losing My Grip. It was later re-recorded with vocalist Nicky Brown for the 1982 LP Before The Storm. Obviously, the Dickinson version is superior, but the track more of a cool oddity than it is awesome.
Found this original US pressing at a shop in NYC a few years ago and it was still sealed/never played. Like a brand new (old) record.
Apologies as the playlist on the link is all out of order, but not finding a correct version to share (yet).
