Tempest were a UK band that only last a couple of years, but managed to drop a couple of really good albums. This is of course their debut and features bassist Mark Clarke, drummer Jon Hiseman, Paul Williams of Juicy Lucy on vocals and legendary guitarist Alan Holdsworth.
Part heavy rock, part prog and all kinds of good shit, it’s a solid listen. Can’t say enough about how good this record is! Holdworth’s playing is, as always, phenomenal. He turns up in so many of the bands I love of the 70d, but he never sticks around long. Also worth nothing the beautiful cover art by Mati Klarwein, the same artist who created the art for Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew LP, among others.
This is ‘73 US label promo version on Warner Bros. Found this at a place called the Record Parlor in Las Angeles a few years ago. It’s a little beat up, but plays great and seems to have benefited from an ultrasonic cleaning.
