Toe Fat’s second LP and despite some lineup changes, it’s still pretty good. Haven’t listened to it as much as the first album, but spinning it tonight I’m thinking I need to give it a bit more listening. Both Ken Hensley and Lee Kerslake left the band before this was recorded. John Glascock stayed until the end, and eventually went on to join Jethro Tull.
As someone who mostly came into music as an 80s thrash metal dude, it literally blow my mind at how many fan-fucking-tastic heavy rock bands put out albums in the 1960s and 70s that just didn’t go anywhere despite being exceptional. This was the time y’all! So much quality tunage.
This LP, the actual vinyl, is so thin with this pressing it’s almost a floppy record. I am astonished that it’s managed to survive all these years and not turned into a candy bowl… yet it spins flat and somehow sounds fantastic. Go figure. Original 1970 US pressing on Rare Earth. Bought both Toe Fat albums at the same time from a guy at a record show back in 2016. Pretty happy with ‘em!
