The second installment of Noise Records’ label sampler series. Like the first, this one is made up of mostly excellent selections from the Noise roster. It’s too bad the label didn’t catch on way earlier and started this series in the early 80s, like Metal Blade’s iconic Metal Massacre series…. Would have been great to hear a Noise/European version of that series throughout the prime years of thrash. 1989, while still a good year for thrash, also marks the beginning of its decline.
Interesting configuration with “the progressive side” and “the heavy side”. The prog side is where it’s at for me with Coroner, Watchtower, and Deathrow. Deathrow’s “Machinery” is jaw-droppingly awesome! Going to have to dig out their incredible Deception Ignored album for a spin soon.
1989 US pressing on Noise International. Seems like I’ve had this one forever. Maybe early 1991 or so.
