Eloy - Inside (1973)

Of all the bands I came across on the interwebz, my journey to collect Eloy’s catalog on vinyl was easily one of the most satisfying and enjoyable collections to build. Their records are/were just slightly hard to find, but easy enough that I was able to pick up most of their stuff in the wild just by putting a little work into it. On top of that, most every Eloy released in the 1970s and even into the 1980s is excellent.

“Inside” is Eloy’s second album and it’s a solid change in direction from their first album. Frank Bornemann has now taken over vocals and the band is well into defining their sound. This cycle, along with the following “Floating” is a heavier, hard jamming prog rock band with what I can only describe as proto-metal elements abound. This album absolutely slays.

Initially released in 1973, it wasn’t until 1974 that the album was issued in the US by Janus Records. Superb.
