After departing Yes, guitarist Peter Banks formed Flash with drummer Mike Hough, bassist Ray Bennett, and singer Colin Carter. Tony Kaye (also from Yes) plays keys on this album but declined to join the band permanently.
The album itself is pretty good. Noting too hard hitting and definitely not as progressive as Yes, but the compositions are solid and the music complex enough to keep things interesting. The album was produced by Derek Lawrence, but was engineered by Martin Birch and his involvement up-levels the production to excellent. Unsettling cover concept by Hipgnosis and there ya go!
Original 1972 US pressing on Sovereign. Vinyl garage pickup.
Can’t seem to find a stream of the full album, but here are three cuts from the LP.
