Pink Floyd - The Final Cut (1983)

Whew, I am surprised this incarnation of Pink Floyd survived long enough past The Wall to create The Final Cut. It’s a well produced album for sure, but essentially Roger Water’ first solo album with three-fourths of the remaining band backing him up. Already a salaried employee by 1979, co-founding original member Richard Wright would play on this album. Roger Waters would quit the band soon after.

It’s a serious affair and while interesting and impressive; it’s not a super enjoyable listen for me. It has some gentle moments of reflection, but the overall experience is a little like going to the theatre to be yelled at, hah.

1983 US pressing on Columbia. I found this copy at a garage sale a couple years ago for $5 and it’s mint. Replaced another copy I had that was super warped (but still somehow played ok).
