Akercocke unveiled something sinister, yet somehow so appealing that I ended up falling totally in for these cats back around the time time this album came out. It’s a bananas mix of death metal, black metal, and technical progressive metal in a way that I’m not sure I’ve heard elsewhere. Total brutally, yet somehow intricate and engaging… not to mention insanely blasphemous and satanic. I’m in.
2016 UK vinyl reissue on Peaceville Records. First ever release on vinyl for this one and it’s an outstanding effort.
