After a ten year hiatus, Akercocke quietly, then noisily return from uncertainty with a pretty solid comeback album. Notably amplified is the progressive leanings that have always been present, but are now central. The dark satanic vibes, in turn, have subsided but not disappeared. Fortunately the band have kept it going since this release, but are long overdue for a new studio album.
