Audience (1969)

The first Audience album. This UK act is pretty outside what most folks probably think I listen to, but this band is core for me. Light prog folk rock with fantastic storytelling lyrics and insanely good vocals courtesy of singer Howard Werth. Primarily acoustic stuff too. Audience had a knack for absolutely excellent song craft and  that’s what really brings it home for me. One of the best unsung bands of the late 1969s and early 70s. This first album and their third “The House On The Hill” are essential listening.

2018 UK reissue on a label called Tiger Bay. Don’t know a ton about the details of this reissue but it sounds great on my hi-fi and includes a couple of bonus demo cuts from the same era which make for a nofe accomplishment to the proper album.
