Coroner have always been a band on their own wave in regard to style and influence. Classically informed, also not too far from comrades Celtic Frost and (later) bands like Voïvod or Watchtower… all while not sounding anything like these bands. Coroner’s sound is 100% their own. RIP is top notch technical thrash metal in the best kind of way. If you don’t know this shit, do yourself a favor and get it on! Produced and engineered by Harris Johns.
2018 European reissue by Century Media and while it’s fine, it’s a shockingly bare bones reissue of a massive thrash masterwork. No inserts, lyrics, heck, there’s not even a band/album title printed on the spine! The first three Coroner albums were all reissued this way instead of being part of the Noise reissue campaigns around the same time and it’s absolutely baffling.
