Originally conceived by producer/actor/musician Yūya Uchida under the moniker of Yūya Uchida & The Flowers and released one album title “Challenge!” In 1969. He then decided to reimagine this group as a heavy rock band and stepped back to just producing. The only remaining member from the first band is drummer Joji Wada. The new Flower Travellin’ Band also featured Jun Kozuki on bass, guitarist Hideki Ishima and vocalist Joe Yamanaka and the path to heavy ass proto-metal is set. Even though this one is primarily covers, the most prominent are a blazing cover of King Crimson’s “21st Century Schizoid Man” and possibly the first ever recorded cover of Black Sabbath’s signature song “Black Sabbath” which was only release earlier that same year.
Unofficial 2012 French reissue on Klimt Records.A bit bare bones with packaging but sound is good.
