Gong have never been accused of being predictable. Case in point; this album. Band leader, frontman, and major contributor of the band’s identity, Daevid Allen had left the band and they decided to carry on. This album isn’t as wacky as previous Gong releases, but it still smokes in a lot of ways. Definitely more jazz/fusion leaning and Steve Hillage is still (slightly) involved, contributing some nice guitar work in a couple of tracks. I didn’t expect much when I got this album, but can’t deny… it’s damn good.
Produced by Nick Mason of Pink Floyd.
1976 US pressing on Virgin with a promo stamp on the back cover. Despite some road wear to the cover, the record plays perfectly.
