Herbie Hancock’s early to mid 70s stuff is such a heady mix of jazz, funk, rock, and even psychedelic vibes to create a framework of which to create from. Crossings is on certainly one of these, with just three tracks spanning length of the LP, it takes you in and guides your journey. Much is already written about this LP and all I can do is pile on to the accolades.
1972 US pressing on Warner Bros. Records. I found this at a shop in Los Angeles a few years back for cheap. At the time it looked in pretty rough shape, being dirty and the cover had seam splits on the top and bottom. Was able to repair the seam splits using hinging tape and the work is entirely unnoticeable unless you look inside the sleeve. Repeated brush and ultrasonic cleaning brought the LP back to an unexpectedly clean state, Like a successful restoration project, hah.
