Manilla Road’s second album album, simply titled “Metal” finds the band still in a formative phase. Having just shelved a larger concept album framework called “Dreams Of Eschaton”, the band aimed for a more straightforward approach with “Metal”. It’s still a great album, just way more early metal/hard rock vibes and less so epic metal or progressive.
2012 German reissue on High Roller Records. This version features an alternate cover due to some major issues getting the original art printed to look correct and possibly issues locating the original flats. 2018 and 2021 represses by High Roller do feature the original cover art, so they must have sorted it out at some point. Still a great release.
