Open The Gates is the fourth Manilla Road studio album and the band have been evolving at a rapid rate. They hit their stride with Crystal Logic in 1983 and have even further build on their epic metal sound with this LP. I didn’t really discover Manilla Road until I was in my early 30s and wonde wheat I would have thought of them as a teenage thrasher in 1985. The amazing cover art by artist Eric Larnoy sure does a lot to peak the imagination! One big thing for me with this album is the track “The Ninth Wave” which might be one of my all time favorite metal tunes, by any band, ever. Absolutely epic!
