Sir Lord Baltimore (1971)

The band’s second album and their last before splitting up soon after this LP was released. I’ve had this for ages and honestly not really given it much attention due to my inability to get past the awesomeness of the first album. This sophomore album is a solid effort, really, but didn’t gain enough attention to push the band forward and they were dropped. It’s still very much a heavy rock/proto-metal album, but the speed has been dialed back a notch and an increased emphasis on the heavy. Stories of addiction aside, it baffles me a little as to why these cats didn’t get the recognition at the time.

2010 US reissue on Mercury/Universal Music Special Markets. Low key, but solid reissue. Just realized I picked this up at legendary record store The Sound Garden in Baltimore, MD back in 2013. That makes me really happy for some reason, hah.
