Sonic Temple was The Cult’s peak popularity for sure. They broke huge when this album came out. All over MTV, but tours and all that shit. Honestly, as much as I didn’t want to admit it at the time it’s a solid record. So many good cuts and the sound is huge, courtesy of mega producer Bob Rock. I saw The Cult on this touring cycle, opening for Metallica! While they were an odd fit for that tour in 1989, they still put on a decent show.
1989 US club edition pressing on Sire/Reprise/Beggars Banquet. Literally just picked this up earlier this week at Moondog Records in Las Vegas. Was kind of at the max price I wanted to pay for this LP, but Ive passed on it a couple of times already and figured I might not see this again in the wild. Glad I went for it as this copy is absolutely mint.
