Deep Purple - Come Taste The Band (1975)

The only true MkIV Deep Purple album? A lot of people shit on this record but it’s fucking great. After Blackmore’s acrimonious departure, the band carried it forward by recruiting American guitarist extraordinaire Tommy Bolton, mainly based off his mind blowing performance on Billy Cobham’s Spectrum album and that makes perfect sense if Bolin hadn’t developed a heroin problem by 1975, which he did. Come Taste The Band is a phenomenal album, but it also spelled death for 1970s Deep Purple.

1975 US pressing on Purple Records/Warner Bros. Oh, so good!
