This always struck me as an odd live release for Deep Purple, albeit a really nice live LP. The bamd had essentially fallen apart after touring with Tommy Bolin and this was released… maybe to fulfill contractual obligations or simply to boost the prospects of solo success for the members of the band, who knows. The material here was sourced from three early 1975 EU shows while Blackmore was still in the band. The single LP release only features five tracks from Burn and Stormbringer, so it’s a fairly small live taste of a band with a full and strong catalog of tines by this time. Production is excellent and it’s a good time.
1976 US pressing on Purple Records/Warner Bros.
