Released in 1973 this collection nicely highlights the MkI and MkII eras of Deep Purple as a 2xLP set. Not sure if this was released as a potential stop-gap to keep interest up in light of Gillan and Glover’s departure of the band or just an anthology wrap up, but it’s a solid set of tunes. Includes a few non-LP tracks and variants that would be different for those of us with US copies… like Speed King, which retains the full intro that was amended from the US release, etc.
1974 German pressing on Purple Records/EMI Electrola. Found this at a shop in Brooklyn for $6. It’s been around, maybe a library copy or college radio station[?] but still plays great.
