So… Ibis was the continuation of a one-off self-titled album under the moniker of Nico, Gianni, Frank, Maurizio, which is fantastic. After a bit of shuffling, the band settled on the Ibis moniker and recorded/relesed Sub Supreme… which, for my is a bit of a masterpiece. Fucking great complex progressive rock in the vein of Yes, ELP, and shit… I dunno but with a serious rock Italiano vibe . So damn good! Interesting footnote is that UK drummer Ric Parnell plays all drums on this record. If you are not familiar with the name, he was with Atomic Rooster for a short bit and later with none other that Spinal Tap and is their drummer throughout the movie until he explodes at the very end. His playing here is phenomenal too, hah.
2015 Italing reissue on Vinyl Magic and it’s perfectly good.
