Planet Gong - Live Floating Anarchy 1977 (1978)

There is a lot I don’t know about this album, but I suspect it’s one of Daevid Allen’s moves to reclaim the Gong moniker of his band (and successfully, I believe). As for the album itself, it’s pretty wild. A raw sounding live performance, but the band is super tight and it’s a weird mix of hippy dippy psychedelic, technical progressive rock with punk vibes in a way that I wouldn’t otherwise imagine possible. Unsure if Steve Hillage was involved in this, but some of the playing reminds me of him… though it could be Allen. Pretty unique live album and a killer spin anytime.

1978 French pressing on a label called LTM. As can be seen from the photos, my copy has been custom colored for maximum effect. It also seems to have spent time with a radio station called KUGS-FM, out of Bellingham, Washington. I’m good with it!
