Vektor - Demolition (2006)

Demolition is in fact Vektor’s second demo recording and is largely made up songs from their eventual first and second proper albums as well as as the nearly 13 minute epic “Moonbase”, a never properly released track which is simply bananas. While demos can generally be rough, this has been very nicely produced, yet retains that direct raw sound that can give demos a bit more authenticity than a proper album at times. This demo also features an earlier lineup of the band, with frontman/guitarist David DiSanto and guitarist Erik Nelson in place alongside bassist Mike Tozzi and drummer Adam Anderson. 2024 US limited edition pressing from Metallic Blue Records and includes a demo version of “Accelerating Universe” from the band’s 2007 Hunger For Violence two-song demo. Tangerine Dream - Quichotte (1981)

Quichotte captures Tangerine Dream’s performance at the Palast der Republik in East Berlin on January 31, 1980. This concert marked a significant cultural moment, as it was one of the first by a Western band in East Germany. The album consists of two expansive tracks, “Quichotte Part I” and “Quichotte Part II,” featuring the lineup of Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke, and new member Johannes Schmoelling. It’s a fantastic live showing from this era of the band and unique in that it was released only in East Germany until a 1986 reissue came out, retitled as Pergamon , a reference to the Pergamon Museum in East Berlin. 1981 German Democratic Republic (East German) pressing from Amiga. Took a chance on a cheap copy of this recently and it appears to have paid off. Sounds amazing. dig

Razor - Violent Restitution (1988)

In my opinion, Violent Restitution is Razor’s most volatile and aggressive album. The riffs are visceral as fuck and with new drummer Rob Mills and bassist Adam Carlo on board (Dave Carlo’s brother), the band are on fucking fire. This album should have way more visibility than it does and I am here to preach the ways of violence and destruction. Stace “Sheepdog” McLaren delivers an epic vocal performance and the band is tight as fuck. If you like thrash, you need this in your life. 2015 German reissue on High Roller Records and it’s no less than superb. dig
