Well, this is technically Plug-In Jesus and Burn, but whatevs. Plug-In Jesus was the first album by Oxnard punk/crossover act Dr. Know and Burn was the 1985 follow up EP to that full length. Both are pretty awesome crossover releases. Frontman and guitarist Kyle Toucher had fantastic guitar tone that always reminded me of Tom Warrior’s tone with Celtic Frost. Seriously heavy, especially for a band coming out of the punk scene. Solid tunes and don’t take themselves too seriously. Has this forever and if I had to scale back my collection just 20 records, this one might make the short list. I’m such a dork, haha.
1985 US reissue on Mystic Records includes both Plug-In Jesus and the Burn EP as a bonus 7-inch. Both sound phenomenal.
