While the band undoubtedly has overtly punk roots, this is 100% a full metal album. Guitar harmonies like Iron Maiden and epic lyrical themes like Manilla Road. The band is only looking forward and does not give a fuck. That said, Forward Into Battle is a fantastic fucking metal album! Stone cold classic, y’all!
1986 US pressing on Combat Core and it’s all good. Pretty sure I bought this brand new in ‘86 too. Funny notes that the original releases never licensed the Boris Vallejo cover artwork, so these original pressings are a bit of a copyright infringement. When the band reissued these later with Candlight Records, they released the art had not ever been licensed and corrected the situation. As a result the reissues look way better than the originals, hah.
