If I was playing musical evolution bingo in my teenage years I would never have guessed that Hawkwind would have been a band that I dove so deep into. I am certain I have more Hawkwind vinyl than any other band in my collection… and even more nuts is that I have grown to enjoy just about ever era this bands has ventured through. Early 1980s Hawkwind was a difficult period for a lot of old fans as the band was pretty adept at evolving into the 80s technologies and aesthetics… not a popular take with the fanbase of the time, I am sure of it. For me, this album is fantastic! Still heavy progressive psychedelic rock through and through, just adapted to the times and without fear of driving ahead into the future, regardless of consequence.
This is a 2014 UK reissue on Back In Black and it’s a nice release. Includes an entire bonus LP full of outtakes and remixes… not crucial, but appreciated.
