Metallica - Master Of Puppets (1986)

A well known high point for Metallica and an album that deserves every bit of the accolades it receives. I seriously feel that Metallica had a (partially) progressive rock evolutionary path in mind as they experimented with song structures and techniques on this album…. Paradoxically, they are rather conservative in how they map out their album track ordering with Master Of Puppets being a near duplicate (in structure) to Rode The Lightning. Still, this album is a whole different thing and one of the bands most important releases. It would also be their last with genius bassist Cliff Burton, while would tragically lost his life when the band’s tour bus crashed in Europe while touring this LP.

1986 “club edition” pressing on Elektra and sounds absolutely amazing.
