Roger Glover & Friends - The Butterfly Ball And The Grasshopper’s Feast (1974)

I am not sure I am prepared to give any type of a meaningful assessment of this rather strange concept release from Deep Purple MkII bassist and producer Roger Glover. Based on a children’s poem and also launched as a rock opera the following year. It’s definitely something unique, hah! The caliber of contributing musicians is quite amazing and features Ronnie James Dio, Glenn Hughes, and David Coverdale as just a start. Another notable addition is soon to be Judas Priest drummer Les Binks. There a lot more to tell here, but that’s what the interwebz are for. Just got this, so first spin happening as I type, but I dig it.

1974 US promo release version. It’s been around, but plays good.
