School Of Violence - We The People…? (1988)

School Of Violence were a NYC based hardcore/crossover band that had released just a couple of demos and one full length album (this), released in 1988. I admit, I learned of this band due to Karl Agell’s involvement. Agell was with SOV for just a few years and left for Corrosion Of Conformity not too long afterwards and eventually released the amazing Blind LP with that band. I’ve generally heard good things about this record and came across this copy while out and about yesterday and now giving my first spin. Initial impression is that this is way more metallic than the expected punk feel. Heavy guitar tones, lots of thrash metal styled drumming and Agell’s raspy as fuck vox. Despite all that, it doesn’t sound like a thrash metal record either, but it does rip. Cool piece of music history and I could see giving this a spin every so often.

Original 1988 US pressing on Metal Blade sub-label Death Records. Been around and has a slight warp, but plays perfectly. Did not expect it to be so clean.
