Exodus - Impact Is Imminent (1990)

1990 was a weird time for Exodus. The band were signed to major label Capital Records, but then legendary drummer Tom Hunting left the band due to health concerns. The band brought in (at the time) former Anthrax drum tech John Tempesta, who is now a well known drummer in his own right and the band couldn’t have found a better replacement at the time.

Unfortunately, this album is inconsistent as fuck with crazy riffs all over the place, but not a lot of emphasis on songs. Zetro singing is over the top in a bad way and he’s way to high in the mix, which gets to the point where its annoying. In all though, the H-Team guitar duo of Holt and Hunolt are on fire with riffage and lead blasts that and absolutely crushing, so there’s still plenty of fun to be had…

1990 US pressing on Capitol Records and it’s a pretty sweet copy. All that text on the back cover though, lyrics, credits, everything! Yeesh! A graphic designer’s nightmare!
