Vol. 1 is Sleep’s debut and it’s an unrefined beast of an album. The laid back stoner vibes are there, but still unrealized in the overall sound of the band. Still, this album fucking rocks! Noisy as fuck and somewhat sublime. Can’t help but notice the similarities between the back cover text layout between this and Nirvana’s Bleach album. Both released on Tupelo at one point.
