Tangerine Dream managed their sonic transition from the 1970s to the 1980s quite gracefully. The band stepped back their expansive compositions and embraced some aspects of minimalism and digital technology to great effect. A lot of folks shit on this record for being overall accessible or even new wave, but I don’t think any of those criticisms hold much water. I can see struggling at the time, but this album has aged beautifully.
1980 US pressing on Elektra that I’ve had forever. I wasn’t aware until later that the US cover art differs from other editions, but this is a rare case in which I think I prefer this US cover.
