Loudness were, I guess what you might describe as a traditional heavy metal band out of Osaka, Japan. The Birthday Eve is their first album and the band already have tight chops and great songwriting. They don’t yet sound like their commercial breakthrough Thunder In The East, but they are sort of fearless during their 1981-84 period, with almost progressive rock arrangements and some wild playing.
1983 European reissue on Roadrunner Records and it’s great. I landed this at a place called Recycled Records in San Francisco some years back (along with my copy of Disillusion).
