While the first two Lucifer’s Friend LPs were more heavy progressive rock, proto-metal vibes with dark undertones, the band has taken a bit of a shif with their third release. I’m A Rock ‘n’ Roll Singer is a bit easier going, has horns on some tracks and shows the band dabbling in boogie rock flavors of the time. That said, the album is still quite good, only jarring after the first two. The band would continue to to develop in this direction a bit… some good, and eventually, no so good. But for now, this is good jams.
1974 US pressing on Billingsgate Records is pretty nice not featuring the gatefold presentation of its European counterparts. Also seems to be a white label promo, but without any obvious indications on the sleeve.
