Nektar - Recycled (1975)

I struggled to get into this album at first, thinking it was “overproduced” when I first got it in the early 2000s… a take I have since discarded in light of the dumb eletist standards I used to carry in my younger days. This is a concept album based on a future in which Earth has polluted the environment and used up all natural resources and despite that dire theme, the album is rich and beautiful, with a hopeful vibe in the end. The production, regardless of my first take is actually really nice. Thick, rich, and dynamic, it’s a lovely example of production possibilities in 1975.

1976 US pressing on Passport Records. I’ve had this forever, at least.
