Hailing from Montreal, Obliveon is an excellent technical thrash metal band to emerge from the Quebec region in the late 1980s and early 1990s, influenced by Voïvod with societal topics, science, science fiction, and futuristic themes. These fellas are excellent and have recently reunited to record a new album. This however, is one of their early demos, originally released on cassette only. It’s like a preproduction recording of their debut From This Day Forward, as it contains demo versions of every track from that album except the title track. Though the production is raw, it’s an awesome document of the band during their early years.
2024 Greek pressing from Floga Records and it is excellent. Just received a few days ago, so taking it in, but loving it. I participated in the Kickstarter campaign for the new album and reissues and hope to receive all of the albums on vinyl when that all starts to ship, but it’s taking a while… which is fine. Stoked for those someday, hah.
