Like a lot of NWOBHM bands, Saxon struggled a bit with direction amongst the rapidly fading notoriety of the initial excitement and wheth to align themselves with the more commercial metal sounds coming from the US. This album isn’t a sellout or even bad, but you can hear the band trying out some ideas that might seem more accessible. Still, I dig this album plenty.
