After a successful return trip with Tempo Of The Damned, Exodus had a falling out with vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza, again split with founding drummer and legend Tom Hunting, and lost longtime guitarist Rick Hunolt, marking an end the the long running H-Team guitar duo of Holt-Hunolt. Looking grim, but the band pull it off with former Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph, former Heathen guitarist Lee Altus, and unknown singer Rob Dukes. Bostaph and Altus fit right in… and so does Dukes to a point. His initial take on Zetro and Baloff is impressive as he really nails it on first glance.:: if only a bit generic overall. It’s almost like Dukes is an amalgamation of both vocalists distilled down to its serviceable base. Solid, bit not unique. I feel bad slogging Dukes as he did deliver for the band when they were otherwise doomed and I am thankful for his time with the band. Overall it’s a solid and well put together album.
2021 German reissue on Nuclear Blast. Picked this up in Barcelona at a place called Pentagram Music back in June and kind of baffled that this is my first time giving this LP a spin since I bought it all those months ago. Sounds great.
