Kyuss - Wretch (1991)

Released in 1991, the Kyuss’ debut album Wretch is raw, heavy, and deeply rooted in the gritty, unpolished sounds that later defined the stoner rock genre. With dense, downtuned guitar riffs, thunderous drumming, and John Garcia’s distinct vocals, Wretch delivers a powerful and primal energy. I didn’t really come around to Kyuss until a bit later, but fell in love with their sound over the years. Wretch may be a basic framework for the masterful albums to follow, but can’t deny, it rips.

2021 repress from Rhino Records/Dali Records and while it’s a barebones release, it sounds great.
