Roksnax (1980)

Over the years I’ve developed a keen interest in the earliest years of what developed into heavy metal. The late 1970s were a wildly transformative era for rock music and there were a ton of acts that made a mark, but never quite got through. Roksnax, released in 1980, is a compilation album that highlights that emerging heavy metal and hard rock scene in the UK during the late 1970s and early 1980s. It features tracks from three unsigned bands—Hollow Ground, Samurai, and Saracen—who were part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) movement, but none of which realized much, if any success beyond this 3-way split LP.

2017 US reissue from the suitably named Buried By Time And Dust Records. Does a great job replicating the original artwork and has fantastic liner notes about each band.
