Satan - Suspended Sentence (1987)

Satan has a way more convoluted history than most bands, so a bunch of stuff happened between their 1983 debut and this album. Suspended Sentence, released in 1987, marks a shift in the band’s sound, leaning towards a more technical and thrash-influenced style compared to their earlier NWOBHM roots. With Michael Jackson (not that Michael Jackson!) replacing Brian Ross on vocals, the album features intricate guitar work and complex song structures, showcasing the band’s evolving musicianship. Though often overlooked compared to their debut Court in the ActSuspended Sentence stands as a powerful, progressive metal record that solidified Satan's place in the underground metal scene of the 1980s.
