This album showcases a very traditional blend of heavy metal and early power metal elements, with epic themes and a dramatic, operatic vocal style by frontman David DeFeis. While not as polished as their later works, the album laid the groundwork for the band’s signature sound, featuring strong guitar riffs, melodic hooks, and DeFeis’s powerful vocal range. I wasn’t ever really into these fellas back in the day, but stumbled across this LP at a record show ages ago and bought it for the outlandish fantasy/sci-fi cover art. Not gonna lie, the album has grown on me over the years, so no regrets, hah!
1982 US pressing self-released on the band’s own V.S. Records.
